presents in association with the Asian Pacific Islander Cultural Center and the Dresher Ensemble Studio
Mom & Me; deconstructing the Good Daughter
dNaga dance company examines this archetypal relationship by exploring societal expectations through dance and narrative storytelling.
The dance deconstructs the notion of the good daughter through dynamic movement and compelling interviews. It examines Asian cultural concepts of filial devotion and responsibility to our parents in direct relationship with how our modern American culture typically manages elder care.
Music compositions by Joel Davel and Indigo Mateo. Lighting Design by Dale Mac Donald. dNaga dancers will be joined by community members with Parkinsons disease along with members from Banteay Srei.
Performance will be held at the Dresher Ensemble Studio in West Oakland.
Specific directions and accessibility information will become available once you purchase the ticket.
This project is supported by the East Bay Fund for Artists and the East Bay Community Foundation, The Clorox Foundation and CA$H Grant. dNaga is fiscally sponsored by Dancers Group and is in residence at Danspace.
